Friday Night in D.C.



If you are looking for something fun and exciting to do Friday night after the conference is over check out some of these options in D.C. listed below!


  • Kennedy Center – The Kennedy Center is one of Washington D.C’s Premier theaters.  You can choose from a number of different performances that will be showing the weekend of the conference including The Beijing Dance Theatre: Wild Grass and NSO Pops: Danny Elfman’s Music from the Films of Tim Burton.
Metro Directions:  Take the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center and get off at Foggy Bottom Metro Station, there is a free shuttle that operates from the Foggy Bottom Metro to the Kennedy Center every 30 minutes.

  • Ford’s Theatre – This theatre offers history buffs the chance to visit an important historical landmark while taking in a show!  Driving Ms. Daisy will be showing throughout the weekend.  Shows are offered Friday night at 7:30, Saturday at 2:00 and 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00.
Metro Directions: Take the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center and get off at the Metro Center Metro Station.

  • Old Town Alexandria Ghost Tour – Old Town Alexandria was not only a place George Washington once called home, it is also a city filled with rich history and mystery!  If you are looking for a fun and slightly spooky way to spend your Friday night check out this ghost tour.
Metro Directions: Take the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center, transfer at Rosslyn Metro Station to the Blue Line going towards Franconia, get off at the King Street Metro Station.

  • Night Monument Tours – Monuments and Memorials are always at the top of everyone’s “must see” list when traveling to Washington D.C.  However no matter how many times you have seen the Lincoln Memorial in the sunlight it feels like you are viewing it for the first time when you have the chance to admire it in the moonlight.  If you are more of the self-guided type feel free to explore the memorials on your own, the national mall is a short walk from both the Federal Triangle or Smithsonian Metro Stations on the Silver Line.  However, there are also night tours available that depart from Union Station every night at 7:30 by bus. 
Metro Directions:  (For self-guided experience) Take the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center and get off at either the Federal Triangle or Smithsonian Metro Stations.
(For Professional Tour)  Take the Silver Line towards Largo Town Center, transfer at Metro Center Metro Station to the Red Line towards Glenmont, get off at Union Station Metro Station.
